jetta SG And you know what? Even with it being so hot here, the weathermen say we haven't set any record. Here in So Cal, the power company has asked us to help conserve energy and not tax the power grid. So our store's running on half the usual a/c power. For the past few days, it's been uncomfortable at work. Even so, I'm not looking forward to winter. How do you tahan the extreme cold up there MG, I'll never know.... To counteract the heat, guess what I'm having for dinner right now? Chicken curry.
honeymouse SG It happens in Melbourne every Summer too when everyone decides to turn on their airconditioners at home.
jetta SG The thing is, a few years ago, we actually ran out of power. Can you believe that? The state had to buy power from a neighbouring state and institute rolling blackouts.
jetta SG Morning pinkie bear! How are things? Did you know I love love love soy beans? When are you flying off?
Celtic Knot SG I remember when I was in Melbourne (visiting my friends who were studying there), it was very hot... The most memorable thing was that I fell down from the bed when I awoke (3 layers of thick mattress!!). Painful siah!
Meia Gisborn SG At least the load on the grid in SoCal hasn't reached the point where the power companies have to institute rolling blackouts like they did a few years back. Yes, the winters here can be brutal, but like everything else, you adapt and get used to it. It's all you can do to not get a heart attack every time you receive your natural gas bill.
Meia Gisborn SG I bear no responsibility for your masochistic tendencies.... So, any plans for Labor Day?
jetta SG Where I lived in Japan for six years isn't as cold as where you're at in MN but it was hard on all of us. Being cold just drains my energy and spontaneity. So I salute you. That's a big reason why I won't move back to Seattle. Did I tell you that the fil and grand mil came down last week for the hubster's retirement ceremony? Grand mil tried again to persuade us to move back up there but the answer is still no. Speaking of gas bills, I met this couple who are originally from So Cal who moved up to IA. They spent 3 years there and called it quits. They couldn't take the cold and the gas bill. So they're back here. They told me that they prefer the heat anytime. Sounds familiar huh?
jetta SG Yah, I'm spending it at work from 10 - 5. And you? BBQ? My neighbours are getting together for a BBQ just like we did on Memorial Day. I won't be here to partake but the hubster will "choap" some food for me.
av98m SG http://forums.hardwarezone.com/showthread.php?t=1714317 Rumor has it an NSF went awol with life rounds and a weapon WTF More than one person thinks he's going to kill people at Xedo
Celtic Knot SG tennis??? can organise a session of tennis? My Robertson Wilson racket is rotting liao...
jetta SG Have you started packing yet? Check the weather reports just to see if they're going to have a heatwave up there? You never know. Things with me are good. Scorching hot here but good. The fur on my dogs are now super duper short. Someone took the shears to them last night. I'm sitting here dripping sweat from my brow. How are things with you?
the Bear SG the guy who went out with his rifle? hmm.. long ago when i was doing my NS, some maniac shot his CSM.. i use the term "maniac" because during the trial, he said he "felt like Chow Yun Fatt" for the longest time after that, every time anyone kena do sai-kang like wash the Land Rover or sun the camo nets, they will say "i suddenly feel like Chow Yun Fatt"
av98m SG Actually I wanna go canoeing or kayaking *remembers the good old days of frantically peddling to get back to land before the bad weather hits*
